One key design element to a useful sign is the contrast of the sign to the wall color it will be installed on...or the colors of a hallway.  In order for the sign to be seen, there must be enough contrast between the actual lettering, the background color of the sign, and the interior space color.  If those 3 characteristics blend together to create an eye soothing decor, why did you spend your money on a sign?  Take a poll of your employees, customers or the public to see if the 'Sign' was easily visible or not.
